Louise is a qualified and experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist. Louise is qualified to work with children, young people and adults. Louise has a Master’s Degree in Counselling Children and Young people, a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People, an Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a BA (Hon) in Education and Drama. Louise has worked with a variety of issues such as trauma, anxiety, depression, abuse, sexuality, gender identity and eating disorders. However, Louise has special interest and extensive experience of working with self-harm, suicide and substance misuse.
Louise uses an integrative approach to client centred work, ensuring that the client is at the centre of the sessions. Drawing on a variety of therapeutic approaches that aim to suit the needs of the individual, Louise provides a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment to assist others in exploring their issues. Louise is an empathetic person who feels passionate about providing the time and space needed for individuals to feel heard, valued and understood.
Louise has experience of working as a therapist within a variety of settings. This has included work within the education sector; mainstream, PRU and special schools. Louise has also worked within the 3rd sector which includes organisations such as mental health charities, substance misuse organisations and self-harm services. Previous work includes counselling for HM Prison Service and project managing psycho-social intervention programmes for young people and adults who misuse substances.
Louise continues to work within education, 3rd sector services and private practice where she sees clients for a variety of presenting issues, offering both long and short term therapy. Louise is a Registered member of the BACP (MBACP- 644280) and adheres to their code of ethics.
