I, Dr Alastair Clarke-Walker am a Consultant Psychiatrist. I hold dual CCT in General Adult Psychiatry and Substance Misuse. I Graduated from Portsmouth School of Pharmacy with a BSc Honours degree in Pharmacology prior to medical schools. I graduated from Leeds Medical School with LMSSA. LRCP. LRCS. I obtained my MD from St Georges Medical School Grenada/New York. My basic Psychiatric training was with St Georges Medical School London. My higher speciality training was the South Wales training scheme. In addition to being a consultant in general psychiatry I have additional sub-specialist special skills knowledge and experience as below.
My tertiary sub-speciality interest is psychological trauma. This includes post traumatic stress disorder PTSD and other mental health diagnoses associated with psychological trauma. Where appropriate I teach meditation techniques beyond that of mindfulness. I’m trained in a variety of psychological therapies in addition to all of these already stated.
I practice energy psychology where appropriate which is a very useful treatment particularly for psychological trauma. In addition to other psychological techniques. I am trained in EMDR.
Having a background, a full degree in Pharmacology, thus as a Pharmacologist this provides a relatively unique additional degree and background to that of being a Consultant Psychiatrist. Where required I do prescribe monoamine oxidase inhibitors. I am a part of a worldwide psychopharmacology group led by possibly one of the best psychopharmacologist in the world Professor, Ken Gilman.
I have received formal training for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder ADHD possibly the best training course in the United Kingdom UKAAN. This body also advises the European Council on ADHD. Therefore I assess and treat ADHD.
I have had a very successful career commercially within the pharmaceutical industry and the business background and excellent management training has provide me with the skill knowledge and experience base to mentor or guide and help people when they are in difficulties with their careers, or require guidance. Therefore provide career and business guidance for people for all backgrounds.
